Here's The Full Competition Brief!

It's been exciting to receive so many enthusiastic inquiries from young artists and supportive teachers interested in the Create for Climate Singapore youth art competition. We're delighted to announce that the full competition brief can now be viewed here. Please note that preregistration is still required in the form of an email to the Create for Climate SG competition team stating the full name and NRIC/FIN of interested artists (or for teams, the designated contact person). Q: Just wanted to check if foreigners who are living in Singapore are allowed to participate as well, or is this just for Singaporeans/PR? A: Happy to clarify: anyone between the ages of 12 and 25 whose primary residence is in Singapore is eligible to enter, regardless of their nationality. Q:  Are students turning 12 this year (but whose birthdays have yet to pass) allowed to participate? A:  For the sake of fairness and clarity, entries will be open to those whose actual ages match the entry criteria: being 12 to 25 years old as of the 15 October submission deadline.  Q: Where do we post/upload our artworks online? Is there any website link provided? A: Upload information will be provided in the full brief, which is available upon formal registration of interest. Calling Young Artists in Singapore: New Create for Climate Competition Wants to Hear from You!

Inspiration from Brazilian artist Thiago Mundano In accord with Singapore's Year of Climate Action , and building on the momentum of the recent Rise for Climate global actions, the Singapore Create for Climate youth art competition launches today. In this free-entry competition, Singaporean residents aged between 12 and 25 years are invited to create artworks using the symbols that have been adopted by a global community of climate artists: an “X” for what we need to put a stop to, and a Sun for the solutions we need. The results of the art competition, to be judged by a diverse panel of accomplished individuals from a broad spectrum of Singapore's cultural and sustainability sectors, will be presented via an online gallery and a public exhibition to coincide with The Singapore Eco Film Festival in early November. Rise For Climate events across East Asia Yesterday, just days ahead of the Global Climate Action Summit , 100,000s of people came together for Rise for Climate events and actions in cities and towns around the world. Their joint goal: to build a fossil-free world that puts people and justice before profits. In solidarity with these global actions, Singapore held its own successful event “Singapore Rise for Clean and Green Investment,” bringing together representatives of key NGOs, businesses and concerned local citizens alike. Here people gathered to highlight the work of local, regional and global efforts. Global Artists Contribute Works to #RiseForClimate

Artwork by Jhon Cortes "To win change and protect our communities and our planet all we really have is our voices, our bodies and the things we make with our hands together. How can we most powerfully develop and use our bodies and our voices and the art and images we make with our hands?" - 350.org To this end, artists from six continents have created artworks that people around the world are using as they #RiseforClimate . The artworks, like this one from Colombian graphic artist Jhon Cortes, all include the Rise unifying symbols of an "X" for what we need to put a stop to, and a Sun for the solutions we need. These artworks were used by local campaigners around the world during Saturday's global of action, including an exhibition for Singapore's own Rise for Clean and Green Investment event.
