Create for Climate artworks on display in Jakarta. Photo @artivistsatsea In a show of regional solidarity, and fresh exposure of participating young artists' talents, the shortlisted Create for Climate artworks were exhibited in Jakarta, concurrently with December's COP24 UN Climate Summit in Poland. The winners of the Create for Climate Singapore youth art competition were announced at a full-house awards ceremony at the ArtScience Museum, in partnership with the Singapore Eco Film Festival, on Saturday 3 November 2018. ArtScience Museum will host the Create for Climate Singapore exhibition in partnership with Singapore Eco Film Festival. Those in Singapore are warmly invited to view the shortlisted entries to the Create for Climate youth art competition, which will be on view at the ArtScience Museum from 1st - 4th November 2018, in partnership with the Singapore Eco Film Festival. A: Happy to clarify: anyone between the ages of 12 and 25 whose primary residence is in Singapore is eligible to enter, regardless of their nationality. Inspiration from Brazilian artist Thiago Mundano In accord with Singapore's Year of Climate Action , and building on the momentum of the recent Rise for Climate global actions, the Singapore Create for Climate youth art competition launches today. In this free-entry competition, Singaporean residents aged between 12 and 25 years are invited to create artworks using the symbols that have been adopted by a global community of climate artists: an “X” for what we need to put a stop to, and a Sun for the solutions we need. The results of the art competition, to be judged by a diverse panel of accomplished individuals from a broad spectrum of Singapore's cultural and sustainability sectors, will be presented via an online gallery and a public exhibition to coincide with The Singapore Eco Film Festival in early November. Rise For Climate events across East Asia Yesterday, just days ahead of the Global Climate Action Summit , 100,000s of people came together for Rise for Climate events and actions in cities and towns around the world. Their joint goal: to build a fossil-free world that puts people and justice before profits. In solidarity with these global actions, Singapore held its own successful event “Singapore Rise for Clean and Green Investment,” bringing together representatives of key NGOs, businesses and concerned local citizens alike. Here people gathered to highlight the work of local, regional and global efforts. How can we most powerfully develop and use our bodies and our voices and the art and images we make with our hands?" - 350.org To this end, artists from six continents have created artworks that people around the world are using as they #RiseforClimate . The artworks, like this one from Colombian graphic artist Jhon Cortes, all include the Rise unifying symbols of an "X" for what we need to put a stop to, and a Sun for the solutions we need.
